An English lacquered chest on stand

An English black lacquer and gilt-japanned chest on stand. Featuring chinoiserie decoration with scenes of Chinese figures, pagodas and landscapes.

This is a beautiful chest on stand - it is always a pleasure to work on items of such quality. There were splits in both sides of the cabinet and many chips and scratches all over the cabinet and stand. The splits in the sides were stabilised and the chips and scratches repaired as required. There was quite a lot of work in all but this was a wonderful project to work on and the cabinet looked magnificent back in the client’s home.
