Jewellery box restoration

With years of experience, we are able to restore almost any box back to its former glory (examples of our work can be found below). In addition to regular restoration, we are delighted to be able to offer a bespoke design service for the interiors of boxes. Most of our work involves restoring a box that has been in the client’s family for many years, but we can also source antique boxes to your requirements and carry out any necessary restoration work. Using skills from the furniture restoration side of the business, we can repair damaged inlay etc and re-polish the outside of boxes using traditional shellac/French polish which creates a wonderful depth of shine. We also work closely with a local bookbinder who can re-cover boxes in leather if required.

The inside of boxes can be refitted in a number of ways and we enjoy working closely with our clients to achieve something unique and personal. We can re-line the interior with paper, velvet or fabric, including silk. We have made a decorative veneered interior, using satinwood to contrast with the outer darker coromandel veneer. One of our favourite commissions involved working with a specialist embroidery designer and maker to produce a very personal and unique interior for the client. We would be delighted to discuss any ideas you may have in turning an antique box into something truly unique and personal to you. You could have initials, names, a special date or personal message embroidered onto fabric for the interior – the options are endless! It’s a unique way to celebrate a special birthday or event. Below are examples of our work.
